A slam dunk for PCYC Marrickville
Sydney Motorway Corporation provided a grant to PCYC Marrickville to buy a new multipurpose scoreboard for a range of activities and sporting competitions.
PCYC Marrickville is a not-for-profit organisation that works with a variety of stakeholders, including NSW Police to deliver a safe and vibrant atmosphere for local young people and their recreation.
The scoreboard is being used by 400 local members each week and allows players, friends and family to keep track of their team’s performance and makes running the competitions more efficient.
The new scoreboard was installed in time for PCYC Marrickville’s annual flagship event, a 3-on-3 competition as part of National Youth Week. The event draws a lot of competitors and spectators.
The initiative aligns with Sydney Motorway Corporation’s sustainability objectives of health outcomes and driving economic development.
This scoreboard will not only benefit programs run by PCYC but will also encourage local residents and groups, like the Marrickville Breakfast Club (a diverse Indigenous program) to utilise the courts more to their advantage – extending the community benefit, and increasing the economic potential of the centre.”
