Building safer families with early intervention program

The Child Abuse Protection Service (CAPS) will roll-out its Safe Children, Safe Families program to childcare centres across the WestConnex project area following a grant from Sydney Motorway Corporation.

CAPS was founded in 1973 to alleviate child abuse through innovative programs that build wellbeing, resilience, family connections and a stronger engaged community. CAPS provides support and education to families, children, struggling parents, and to the wider community.

Safe Children, Safe Families is delivered at childcare centres to Parents, pre-schoolers and their educators to help develop emotional IQ and social competence, and improve their ability to communicate their emotions to others.

Safe Children Safe Families is an Australian evidence- based program using an award winning model and is the first to be developed and implemented with Pre-school aged children with special needs".

This initiative aligns with Sydney Motorway Corporation’s sustainability objectives to improve health and safety outcomes for local communities.

Early intervention is the key to protecting children and to ensuring the cycle of abuse is broken. We thank Sydney Motorway Corporation for helping us deliver our program to areas that need it most.”
