Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) is integral to our operations, at both a corporate and project level. We encourage all employees to keep the welfare of our people and communities front of mind.
Everyone at Sydney Motorway Corporation is responsible for contributing to a safe and positive workplace. Our WHS management system outlines how we manage associated risk and fulfil our WHS obligations.
Sydney Motorway Corporation supports a safety culture through:
- timely and relevant communication – all new staff, including contractors, take part in mandatory online training, covering the fundamentals of health, safety and wellness at work. Additional staff training, leadership forums, team safety discussions and ongoing safety campaigns enable employees to understand their individual roles and obligations under our WHS policy
- wellbeing advocacy - employees, contractors and their families can use Sydney Motorway Corporation’s Employee Assistance Program, a free and confidential service that provides access to a number of wellbeing services
- transparency and mutual trust - Sydney Motorway Corporation operates a ‘FairCall’ service whereby our staff, contractors or joint venture partners can report unethical or fraudulent behaviour in confidence
maintaining safety standards - WestConnex gained certification against the Australian and International Standards for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems AS/NZS4801 and OHSAS18001. This demonstrates WestConnex's Work Health and Safety Management Systems have been developed, implemented and maintained in accordance with Australian and International Standards.
